NFL Week 8 Betting Trends
We hope you’ve been hitting some against the spread underdogs the last couple weeks.
Underdogs went 8-6 ATS in week 7 and dogs are now covering ATS at a 55.2% clip (58-47 ATS). There were also four underdogs that won straight-up last week, which was less than week 6.
Last week the over/under record was 6-7-1. Overs are now only cashing in at a 51.5% rate (53-50) on the season. This week only five NFL games have a game total of 50+ points.
One trend to keep an eye on is the performance of road underdogs (40-29 ATS / 57.97%).

Like every week during the NFL season, we’re going to compare point spread and over/under odds.
We’ll analyze the betting lines movement for every game. We’ll also share some NFL picks week 8 from our football betting experts. You’ll need a GameAdvisers account to access the computer picks (AI).
The four teams on a bye this week are the Texans, Cardinals, Jaguars and Washington.
Falcons vs. Panthers Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Panthers –2.5 / Current Line: Panthers –2.5
Opening Total: 51 Points / Current Total: 49 Points
The Falcons (1-6 / 2-5 ATS) blew a lead late against the Lions. Carolina (3-4 / 4-3 ATS) have lost two in a row. Atlanta are 5-1 ATS in the last six H2H games and the under is 11-3-1 in the last 15 H2H meetings.
Steelers vs. Ravens Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Ravens –6.5 / Current Line: Ravens –3.5
Opening Total: 49 Points / Current Total: 46.5 Points
The Ravens (5-1 / 3-3 ATS) host the Steelers (6-0 / 5-1 ATS) in an AFC North match-up. The underdog is 5-0 ATS in the last five H2H games. We could see this line continue dropping another ½ or full point.
Rams vs. Dolphins Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Rams –3.5 / Current Line: Rams –4
Opening Total: 49 Points / Current Total: 46 Points
The Rams (5-2 / 4-3 ATS) picked up a big win on primetime in week 6. The Dolphins (3-3 / 4-2 ATS) are on a two-game win streak. The Rams are only 2-2 on the road. We like Miami as a home dog.
Jets vs. Chiefs Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Chiefs –21 / Current Line: Chiefs –19.5
Opening Total: 50.5 Points / Current Total: 48.5 Points
The Chiefs (6-1 / 5-2 ATS) host the winless Jets (0-7 / 1-6 ATS). The Jets easily have the worst point differential (-118). However, this is a huge spread. Anything over two TDs in the NFL is tough.
Vikings vs. Packers Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Packers –6.5 / Current Line: Packers –6.5
Opening Total: 56 Points / Current Total: 54.5 Points
We have another divisional match-up, as NFC North rivals Green Bay (5-1 / 5-1 ATS) and Minnesota (1-5 / 3-3 ATS) play on Sunday. GB are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 H2H games at Lambeau.
Colts vs. Lions Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Colts –3 / Current Line: Colts –3
Opening Total: 51.5 Points / Current Total: 50 Points
Indianapolis (4-2 / 3-3 ATS) are 3-0 at home, but only 1-2 on the road. Detroit (3-3 / 3-3 ATS) have now won two games in a row. The Lions are winless at home, but that changes on Sunday.
Raiders vs. Browns Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Browns –3.5 / Current Line: Browns –3
Opening Total: 55.5 Points / Current Total: 53.5 Points
Las Vegas (3-3 / 3-3 ATS) and Cleveland (5-2 / 3-4 ATS) will meet this week. The Browns are 5-2 despite having a –21 point differential. We’re surprised the game total has dropped and will be on the over.
Titans vs. Bengals Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Titans –3.5 / Current Line: Titans –6
Opening Total: 56 Points / Current Total: 54.5 Points
The Titans (5-1 / 4-1-1 ATS) have been one of the best bets against the spread in 2020. The Bengals (1-5-1 / 5-2 ATS) only have one win, but they’ve been great ATS. This is another home dog we like.
Patriots vs. Bills Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Bills –3 / Current Line: Bills –3.5
Opening Total: 46 Points / Current Total: 43 Points
The Bills (5-2 / 3-4 ATS) host the Patriots (2-4 / 2-4 ATS) in an AFC East match-up. The Bills have control of the division right now, but the Patriots are 13-3 in the last 16 H2H games played in Buffalo.
Chargers vs. Broncos Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Chargers PK / Current Line: Chargers –3
Opening Total: 44.5 Points / Current Total: 44 Points
The Broncos (2-4 / 4-2 ATS) host the LA Chargers (2-4 / 5-1 ATS) in an AFC West match-up. This total is a little low. The over is 5-1 in the last six H2H meetings in Denver. We like the over.
49ers vs. Seahawks Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Seahawks –6.5 / Current Line: Seahawks –3
Opening Total: 54 Points / Current Total: 54 Points
The 49ers (4-3 / 4-3 ATS) and Seahawks (5-1 / 4-2 ATS) meet in an NFC West divisional game. This is a big game for the 49ers, but the Niners are only 2-6-1 ATS in the last 9 H2H games played in Seattle.
Saints vs. Bears Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Saints –3 / Current Line: Saints –4
Opening Total: 47 Points / Current Total: 44 Points
The Saints (4-2 / 2-4 ATS) and Bears (5-2 / 4-3 ATS) are both second place in their respective divisions. This is a tough game to predict. If the total jumps back up at all, we’re betting the under.
Cowboys vs. Eagles Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Eagles –3 / Current Line: Eagles –3.5
Opening Total: 43.5 Points / Current Total: 43.5 Points
The Cowboys (2-5 / 0-7 ATS) are now the only team that haven’t covered a single game ATS. Philly (2-4-1 / 2-5) are leading the NFC East. Dallas are 4-1 ATS in the last five H2H games.
Buccaneers vs. Giants Week 8 Odds and Pick
Opening Line: Buccaneers –8.5 / Current Line: Buccaneers –10.5
Opening Total: 48 Points / Current Total: 46 Points
The Giants (1-6 / 4-3 ATS) have been a mess this season, but they’re still in the NFC East race. The Bucs (5-2 / 4-3 ATS) lead the NFC South. We’re waiting on line movement, but we like TB at –10 or lower.
